Hello and welcome to the latest issue of The Ghoulish Times. My name is Max Booth III and this is my spooky newsletter. I am writing this (hopefully brief) newsletter inside our brand-new bookstore, while customers are currently browsing our shelves. I am melting with sweat and realizing I forgot to eat breakfast. Green balloons are dancing with the wind outside our window. Life is beautiful.
Today is the grand opening of our store. Although we have been unofficially open the last week and some change, this is Our Big Day. It is no coincidence that we scheduled the opening to fall on Independent Bookstore Day. For the last decade, my wife and I have operated an indie small press, and today begins a whole new chapter of our DIY lifestyle. It is exciting and scary and maybe even a little sexy feeling. Fucking bookstores, man. They’re the best. The only type of store I’ve ever considered paradise. All my life I’ve wanted to own a bookstore and now here it is. It’s happening.
Lori and I were interviewed by the local San Antonio newspaper about the bookstore. You can read the full thing HERE.
If you’d like to attend, we are open from 12pm - 8pm today. We are located at 9330 Corporate Drive, Suite #702, Selma, TX 78154. Simply follow the rotting finger signs.
We will be hosting author readings throughout the day. Here is our schedule:
After today, our regular hours will be as follows:
Sunday-Monday | CLOSED
Tuesday-Thursday | 10am-5pm
Friday-Saturday | 10am-8pm
Stay tuned for future newsletters with updates about events we plan to host at the store.
I also recorded a nearly 10-minute long video giving all interested ghouls a little tour of the shop.
And, if you’d like to just see some photos, I have you covered there too.
Okay, that’s it! I have to go help some CUSTOMERS now. See ya later, ghouls!
