Hello and welcome to the latest issue of The Ghoulish Times. My name is Max Booth and this is my spooky newsletter. Yes, I am aware of the recent allegations many have made against me. I will address those in a second. But first:
Yesterday was Jack Ketchum’s birthday. To celebrate, I wrote an essay about how his work introduced me to the indie horror scene.
Check it out in my Dog Ears newsletter HERE.
This week on the My Horror Confessional podcast, Miguel Myers talked to Celso Hurtado about Final Destination. It just took me three attempts to spell “destination” correctly. What is wrong with me?
Anyway, listen to the podcast HERE.
Over on the GHOULISH podcast, I interviewed Scott Adlerberg about his new book, how he crafts mysteries, the time he and his son went viral on Reddit, and so much more.
Listen to my chat with Scott HERE.
Oh, what else? Our other podcast, Decayed Tapes, is now being released every two weeks, instead of weekly. Our next episode goes live this Monday, but if you want to watch the unedited video version right stinkin’ now, you can check out the DT Patreon.
Watch and listen to the episode HERE. Otherwise, stay tuned for it to hit regular podcast feeds late Sunday night/early Monday morning. But seriously. You should check out the show on Patreon. You get to see Miguel’s beautiful smile.
On Tuesday, Saint Grit by Kayli Scholz unleashes upon the world. It’s an incredible novella about feminist rage and witchcraft and it also happens to feature six interior illustrations from Betty Rocksteady. Here is one of them now:
Paperback orders from the GHOULISH.RIP webstore will come with signed signature stickers from the author. Secure your copy HERE.
Is that everything I need to share?
Almost.
Don’t quit me yet.
Before we part ways, I must inform you that the allegations against me are…
Well, they’re true.
I am now, for some reason, a published poet.
My very first published poem—“Deeply You”—is available in the recently-released anthology Qualia Nous Vol. 2. It’s about a lunatic mad scientist getting real creepy with deepfake technology. Are poets supposed to talk about what their poems are about? I have a lot to learn. Anyway here is the front cover and an excerpt:

I wish I could say this is the end of my career as a poet, but unfortunately I recently agreed to co-write an entire fucking poetry collection with a legit, award-winning poet you all know and love. More on that once all of the paperwork is officially signed.
I think maybe that’s it. Goodbye.
Buy some horror books at the GHOULISH.RIP webstore. We have that good spooky stuff you’re always craving.
You can also buy this ghoul a coffee over on ko-fi.
